Wikimedia LGBT+: A Decade of Advancing LGBT+ Representation Across Wikimedia Projects
Vic Sfriso (WMAR), Freddy Veloz

Wikimedia LGBT+ is a Wikimedia user group dedicated to supporting the LGBT+ community and enhancing the representation of LGBT+ content across Wikimedia projects.
This user group has an especially active community in two primary languages, English and Spanish, and regularly organizes initiatives such as monthly editing contests and awareness campaigns on impactful topics, including Wiki Loves Pride and the HIV/AIDS campaign. Additionally, it is the organizing group behind the Queering Wikipedia Conference.
Following years of sustained efforts in building free knowledge and fostering community engagement, Wikimedia LGBT+ recently received a community grant. In this session, we aim to present the work of WMLGBT+ volunteers and introduce the newly formed team leading these initiatives.

What is the VSN? Peer-to-Peer Collaboration for Volunteer Supporters
Vic Sfriso (WMAR)

In this talk, we aim to present the work of the Volunteers Supporters’ Network (VSN), which has been in operation since Wikimania 2014, bringing together those in the movement who directly support volunteers to share knowledge and learn from one another. It is the only network of its kind within the movement.
Since 2023, VSN has been coordinated by Wikimedia UK and Wikimedia Argentina as a peer-learning and mutual support network designed to assist community leaders in their local contexts. Its goal is to strengthen community support efforts, enhance the skills of those building communities within the Wikimedia movement, and create a safe space for learning and mutual support.
