Wikimania 2025

Ayokanmi Oyeyemi

I am a long-standing Wikimedia editor from Nigeria, contributing actively since 2016. Over the past decade, my focus has been on community building: training and mentoring hundreds of new and existing editors across Nigeria. I have designed and led numerous initiatives aimed at strengthening community engagement, which have significantly improved editor retention and participation within the Wikimedia Nigeria community.

Since 2021, I have served as the Programs Director for Wikimedia Nigeria, where I oversee and coordinate all national programs. Under my leadership, the Wikimedia Nigeria Microgrant was established to support local organizers and grassroots projects. My core interest lies in community growth, sustainability, and measurable impact, and I believe this model can be successfully adapted by other communities globally.
