Conversatorio: Ontologías de Memoria Histórica
Bernardo Caycedo, Johana Botero, Monica Bonilla (WMCO), ProtoplasmaKid, Luisina Ferrante (WMAR)

WMF's Impact Litigation
Amanda Jardine, Michele Failla, ProtoplasmaKid

The Wikimedia Foundation’s participation in legal cases during 2024 involved cases both as a defendant and as an active effort through impact litigation (i.e., lawsuits that aim to bring legal change in the public interest). In this session we will discuss several of these impact litigation cases, and how that work has been reinforced through dynamic collaboration within the Movement. Join Amanda Jardine (Lead Counsel for Strategic Litigation, WMF), Ivan Martínez (President, Wikimedia México) and Michele Failla (Senior Legal and Political Advisor, Wikimedia Europe) as they discuss cases involving intellectual property, privacy, freedom of expression and intermediary liability. Learn more about how local chapters can work with WMF to protect these rights globally through legal advocacy.

Come and learn how free maps, free knowledge can help care for the world (with a little help from drones)
ProtoplasmaKid, marin

In this session, together with the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team (HOT), we will show how open mapping technologies, free knowledge platforms, and even low-cost drones can be used to help preserve the planet.

This session shares the knowledge generated from the HotOSM project supported by Wikimedia Mexico and wants to showcase the following ideas:
* How technology changes and that the documentation on Wikimedia Commons also changes over time.
* How we can build bridges and foster collaboration across free and open knowledge sister communities.
* How this initiative provides a practical, replicable model that can be adapted by Wikimedia communities worldwide to document and protect their own environments.
