A Wikimedia quiz designed to bring people of all experience levels and backgrounds together and learn a lot in the process.
This is a timed quiz of about 15-20 questions with questions of varying difficulty levels from different areas of Wikimedia (including MediaWiki and Wikimania as a whole). The quiz will be similar to the 2024 edition hosted in-person in Katowice (https://wikimania.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Leaderboard/WMF_Quiz_2024), and will make use of various formats (such as multiple choice, multiple select, fill-in-the-blanks etc).
Note that WMF Quiz 2025 is expected to be a bit easier overall, so that all participants can make reasonable progress on the quiz, while continuing to challenge the best participants (like was the case in the 2024 edition). This means that the quiz will feel challenging (and perhaps "technical") for many participants, and that's OK - there is no expectation that participants should get "everything" right. After all, we're all here to learn.
The specification for 2025 is at https://wikimania.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Leaderboard/WMF_Quiz_2025

Inclusivity/Impact - this event is designed to be inclusive for people with all kinds of backgrounds, as new users will have some accessible questions they can pick up points for, while there'll be some to challenge the best of us. Similarly, the questions will be designed in such a way that things like a person's "homewiki" or language proficiency should not affect their performance in the quiz. The questions and solutions will also be released after the quiz, so that people who could not take the quiz when it was hosted can still try it out later.
- Should your session be selected for the program, do you agree to release your session and supporting materials on-wiki and on the eventyay platform under CC BY-SA 4.0?
