This lecture provides a comprehensive overview on the coverage of the 2024-2025 nationwide protests in Indonesia in three Wiki projects: English Wikipedia, Indonesian Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons. The lecture would focus on the chronological coverage of the protest based on available data and further research by the presenter, the impact of the coverage on domestic and international audience and vice versa, and efforts on gathering contributors for the coverage. The lecture would also present technical and substantial recommendations for these project based on the findings.

The lecture begins with a brief explanation of the (as of this description is written, ongoing) protests, including its background, goals, as well as some important events that occurred during the course of the protest. This part would be continued with examples of past analysis of public protests, such as the January 6 in America, etc. The next part would include relevant statistics regarding the coverage of the protests, such as users involved, the development of the articles in both Wikipedia, the number of pictures taken and the date, the impact of the articles by examining social media engagement of the content through comments, reposts, etc, as well as the amount of views on the article (possibly this part would be cross-compared with statistics from media). This section would also be complemented by an overview of efforts made to gather contribution for the article. The entire presentation would be closed by a "lessons learned" and recommendations for the community and WMF regarding the coverage of ongoing events, especially public unrests.

The main goal of the event is to provide attendees and users with an in depth knowledge on how ongoing events in non-English speaking countries is being covered in an English-dominated environment such as Wikipedia. Furthermore, it is expected that the lecture would inspire other contributors to get involved in covering ongoing events in their country, especially public unrests, and organize a campaign to involve the general public in gathering relevant information for the wikiprojects.
