Inspired by the notion of the classical city quest, we opened the door for cyclists to join Wiki Loves Monuments while on their bike saddles. After several iterations, we discovered how the competition format may not be working fully in our favor. We'll talk about how we are trying to mitigate it.

Striving to bring more diverse contributions into Wiki Loves Monuments Moldova, we, the local organizing team, came up with a quest-format contest geared towards cyclists of Moldova. The aim of the participants is theoretically to plan their routes and execute them in such a way that they compete over whose contributions are more valuable.

While we are happy with how it's going, we do have an issue of outreach: year by year practically the same people are participating. In 2024, we attempted a couple of group rides to promote the contest "in practice". We would invite all interested cyclists to join us on a route to several cultural heritage monuments, trying to instill in them the competitiveness needed to passionately take part in the contest.

As a result, none of the riders have actually registered in the contest, and neither of them was too interested in taking photos even. We were left with the question: How can we convince new people to participate?

Join this session to:
* find more about the contest format (we're interested in exporting it!)
* hear past participants' testimonies
* see how we are attempting to solve the outreach issue (you might have noticed a clue in the title)
* and practice your own route-planning skills!
