In this presentation I show my personal journey of being a queer person interested in LGBT+ history in Poland, how I learned there were no resources in English concerning this topic and even Polish language resources were obscured from me, and came to rebuild the "LGBTQ history in Poland" article on enwiki, as well as curate several biographies of Polish LGBT+ historical figures. I will discuss it using the philosophical framework of epistemic injustice, and analyze language-bound and cultural differences affecting local Wikipedias (answering the "why not plwiki?" question). I will also share some "more practical" insights on making a niche topic less "orphaned" and more "embedded and accessible" in the interlinked wikipedia (and Wikidata+Commons) sphere.
