LGBTQI+ Wikimedians play an important role in strengthening LGBTQI+ movements, however, visibility, documentation and amplification are only part of the equation. Movements also need resources, relationships and people willing to use their access and privilege to open doors. This interactive participatory workshop will use all our knowledge and experience to explore how LGBTQI+ Wikimedians and allies can become more effective partners in resourcing LGBTQI+ organisations and movements, with a focus on supporting LGBTQ+ activists and community organizations in the Global South. Drawing on lessons from the Rustin Fund for Global Equality, UHAI EASHRI USA, we will examine how Wikimedians can identify potential funders/donors, make meaningful introductions, leverage professional and philanthropic networks, amplify locally led solutions, and challenge funding practices that concentrate decision-making and resources.

Speaker: Kent Klindera, Board Chair, Rustin Fund for Global Equality and Chief Philanthropy Officer, UHAI EASHRI US
