During February 2026, Wikimedia LGBT+ and WikiAcción Perú launched “Carnivals of Diversity in Peru: Celebrating, Remembering, and Writing About Who We Are,” a collaborative campaign that sought to strengthen the memory, visibility, and representation of LGBTIQ+ individuals and communities in the country on Wikimedia’s free knowledge platforms. Through virtual workshops, collective editing sessions, and an international campaign to edit and upload images, this initiative sought to celebrate our identities, remember the struggles and developments of LGBTIQ+ activism in Peru, and collectively document what has historically been overlooked on Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons, and Wikidata. The campaing was organized as the Monthly Challenge is an initiative of the LGBT WikiProject that aims to expand and improve LGBTIQ+ content in selected countries, and as part of the activities on the Gender program at WikiAcción Peru.
