Many queer contributors join Wikimedia through a single editathon and then drift away. We rarely ask them directly what would have kept them editing, or what it would take to grow from a first edit into an organizer or leader. This session turns that question into a collective design exercise. Rather than presenting a finished training program, it gathers the lived experience in the room. Participants share, on sticky notes and in small groups, what helped them keep contributing, what stopped them, and what support they wish had existed at each stage. We cluster those ideas to sketch the rough shape of a learning pathway for queer Wikimedians, from newcomer to topic expert to community organizer. The session is part of the early Wikimedia LGBT+ Learning and Development effort, and what participants generate will feed directly into a future course and a set of reusable tools on sustaining queer editing communities. It is open to every level and designed to work across English, Spanish, and French. No prior editing experience is needed.
You need to log in before contacting the organizer.
