2016 was Wiki Education's Year of Science, a year-long initiative focussed on expanding science coverage on Wikipedia. The initiative included developing partnerships with academic associations, attending academic conferences, and engaging in outreach to faculty and instructors in the sciences. Over 6,300 student editors improved 5,670 existing articles and created 637 new ones. In 2017 we launched our onging Communicating Science Initiative to build off the achievements of the Year of Science and sustain the momentum. In this presentation we will look back on the last 10 years and discuss how it has impacted content areas. We will discuss how the partnerships we built helped us sustain our programs and expand understanding of Wikipedia among scientists, the impacts of the long-term partnerships we build through the initiative, and how they were able to benefit us as a small organization within the Wikimedia movement.
