Demo and brainstorm features for Wikipedia Readers!

This session will begin with a brief high-level overview of Wikipedia’s evolving reader strategy in response to global shifts in information consumption. We’ll discuss trends in readership, pageview changes, and how the Reader Growth and Reader Experience, and Apps teams are responding with concrete examples of what has moved the needle per platform.
We will then go into demo mode, where we show recently released or new and yet unreleased feature ideas. A partial list of potential features to be demo’d are:
* Reading lists: ability to save articles to read later
* Collections: ability to save article snippets, highlights, and images
* Explore feed: recommendations for further reading
* Activity feed: a tab to see recently read articles and recommendations
* Content discovery: web-based exploration from within articles
* Image browsing: new ways of exploring images on articles
* Share button: ability to share articles and portions of articles
Participants will be encouraged to ask questions and provide feedback on all features demo’d.
Participants will then break into small brainstorming groups to “think like a reader,” identifying problem areas and unmet needs to co-create feature ideas that balance innovation with Wikipedia’s core principles. Ideas explored will include ways to encourage readers to participate in Wikipedia, customize or personalize their experience, and discover new things to learn. The session invites collaborative input on how we sustain and grow readership and increase pageviews responsibly.
