[Wiki Workers United](https://wikiworkersunited.org/) is a global [solidarity union](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solidarity_unionism) for the staff of the [Wikimedia Foundation](https://wikimediafoundation.org/), and the US employees of the Foundation are attempting to organize a labor union under US law. Many employees of the Foundation and affiliates outside the US already have labor unions which represent them. How can we build a dialog between these unions to advance the aims of the movement and those professionals employed to aid the movement? How can multiple nation-based unions coordinate to advocate for the needs of global workers? How does the labor union movement interact with the volunteerism which is the core of the Wikimedia movement communities? This meet up is for professionals with employment in the Wikimedia movement, for discussions about how labor unions can help and work with our movement. It is primarily intended for non-management staff of, or contractors to, the Wikimedia Foundation or its affiliate organizations, but is open to those with organizing experience more generally who can add their expertise to our conversation. Join us for a discussion of these topics! In order to provide a safe forum for discussion, this meetup will not be recorded.
