We are living in a changing world. The world seems increasingly polarized, and shared consensus around what information is true and trusted is fragmenting. Topics that at the center of the public debate can become battlegrounds on Wikipedia, too, and wiki projects are attacked more than in the past. Changes that go beyond Wikipedia makes our volunteers feel more at risk than before. And the long-term consequences of the rise of AI and changes on readership behaviour are on top of our mind. These issues are at the center of many conversations in the Wikimedia movement, and many sessions here at Wikimania. However, these conversations generally focus on analysing the current situation, understanding the trends, planning for the future: what is missing is how we are living it. On wiki, users with extended rights are feeling overwhelmed. Editors who work on difficult topics are increasingly feeling threatened. Many of us are worried about the future of the Wikimedia projects. This session is a space for participants to talk about how they are living this situation, and to listen to each other. There will be no presentation: participants will have the main stage.
