Generative AI is reshaping how knowledge is produced, discovered and trusted. Movement conversations have often focused on impact and risks. This session focuses on agency: how can Wikimedia play an active role in shaping the emerging AI-driven knowledge loop, while safeguarding the integrity of human knowledge production?
Drawing on work done by [Wikimedia CH](https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_CH/Innovation/CI_vs_AI), [Open Future](https://openfuture.eu) and [AI-BRIGDES](https://ai-bridges.org), we offer that this moment calls for us to act and lead by innovating, building and shaping the new ecosystem.
To get there, we are launching Mosaic: a mission for open stewardship of AI and the Commons. Our aims is to unite various movement entities, volunteers and aligned partners, and to work together on defining shared priorities and a clear roadmap. We invite others to join this mission, and to work together towards the AI Impact Summit in June 2027 in Switzerland and beyond.
After sharing the challenge, the vision and what led us to create a consortium, we will be sharing a Statement of Intent that we invite everyone sharing our vision to sign, and open up the room to questions and thoughts. We will finish the session with sharing some practical next steps and invite people to sign the Statement of Intent.
As not everyone is able to join us at Wikimania, we will take results from various meetings happening during Wikimania to a Wiki page and invite others to join. We also invite everyone to read the accompanying white paper: ["Wikimedia, the commons and the new AI knowledge loop. A mission for 2030"](https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Wikimedia,_the_commons,_and_the_new_Ai_knowledge_loop.pdf).
For further information before the meeting, please feel free to reach out to Ilario Valdelli, Alek Tarkowski and Shani Eventsein Sigalov thoughtout the week. We hope to see you there!
