In 2024, the government of Brazil, alongside the UN Secretariat and UNESCO, launched the “[Global Initiative for Information Integrity on Climate Change](https://www.unesco.org/en/information-integrity-climate-change)”. This multistakeholder effort is an ambitious drive to promote the United Nations Global Principles for Information Integrity and advance the Digital Global Compact. Information integrity on climate change has been in the agenda of the Wikimedia movement, as shown by the [five initiatives](https://www.gov.br/secom/pt-br/assuntos/iniciativa-global/mais-de-120-acoes-de-27-paises-identificadas-na-chamada-global-mutirao-pela-integridade-da-informacao-sobre-mudanca-do-clima) by Wikimedia groups approved as part of the Mutirão ahead of COP30. In 2025, at Wikimania in Nairobi, we had our [first Pre-Conference](https://diff.wikimedia.org/2025/08/21/wikimania-2025-information-integrity-on-climate-change-on-wikimedia-projects/) on Information Integrity on Climate Change. Additionally, the Working Group on Climate Justice and Wikimedia Brasil were selected to be [one](https://diff.wikimedia.org/2025/11/09/wikimedia-project-from-south-america-selected-by-the-unesco-global-initiative-for-information-integrity-on-climate-change-fund/) of the first projects being recipents of the Fund coming from the Global Initiative. This Pre-Conference will: * Present the Global Initiative and the current high-level policy framework. * Establish an empirical basis for the discussion, disseminating key research on the topic. * Evaluate the strategic alignment of Wikimedia communities and other Digital Public Goods with the high-level policy frameworks. * Design a multi-stakeholder roadmap that translates policy into scalable interventions for Wikimedia and other DPGs to bridge information gaps and ensure the delivery of accurate, reliable and high-integrity climate knowledge. To accomplish these goals, the Pre-Conference will facilitate high-level strategic exchange, convening stakeholders to translate multilateral information integrity policies into institutional strategies and operational priorities. This process aims to bridge the gap between global frameworks and the practical expertise of the Wikimedia movement's leadership.
