The Mediterranean Meetup gathers Wikimedians from all countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea for a moment of connection and exchange. The goal of this cross-continental exchange is to get to know each other among organizations and volunteers from Mediterranean countries to identify our common challenges and opportunities, and build connections that could lead to developing projects together in the future: \- sharing knowledge and expertise on how we run Wikimedia\-related projects ; \- collaboration on activities and programs such as Wiki Loves Monuments / Earth / Folklore ; \- develop projects connected to the sea\, landscape\, migration and climate change\. The idea of bringing Wikimedians from the Mediterranean together was born during the session "Wiki Sud Italia" at Wikimania 2024, where we noticed that the context and challenges that we are facing in Southern Italy were shared and understood by volunteers from other countries. At this occasion, we created connection with Wikimedians from neighbor countries accross the sea (Malta, Tunisia) and we noticed the interested in a pan-Mediterranean network. Complementary to existing geographic hubs in the region (Iberocoop, CEE...), the Mediterranean Meetup at Wikimania 2026 aims to establish preliminary contacts and map the interest of Wikimedia volunteers, with the goal to develop into a more structured partnership in the future: - collaboration during the upcoming Wiki Loves Earth campaign - organization of a follow up gathering in Malta The Mediterranean Meetup is brought to you by [WikiSud Italia](https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Gruppi_locali_di_lingua_italiana/SudItalia/en), an informal group of Wikimedians from Southern Italy and beyond!
