GRDC Workshop: Presenting the Grantmaking strategy and co-designing the next steps

**This session presents the first results of the Global Resource Distribution Committee’s work since its official launch at Wikimania 2025. Over the past year, the GRDC has been advancing its core mandate: to design and propose a new resource distribution strategy for the Wikimedia Movement.**
**This session is designed mainly as a workshop. We will spend a short amount of time presenting the draft strategy, and then move into a collaborative space focused on co-creating the next steps. We plan to divide the session into two parts**
**Part 1: Present the draft resources allocation strategy**
* **Share the strategic priorities and goals of the draft strategy.**
* **Explain the rationale behind the proposed approach to resource distribution.**
* **Invite communities to contribute ideas, perspectives, and practical insights on implementation.**
**Part 2: Co-design next steps**
**Participants will work in small groups to contribute ideas, identify risks, and propose implementation pathways, with the following prompts as a guide to discussion:**
* **Where should we start? What are your initial reflections on what’s been shared? To what extent do you support the proposed direction of travel? Were there any surprises for you?**
* **The process of drafting the strategy has involved gathering a lot of feedback and insight into key priorities across the movement. From the priorities shared, which do you believe is most pressing in terms of implementation?**
* **How do you think we could begin to operationalise the strategy? What do you think could be the risks of the new strategy?**
