This interactive workshop presents two open, browser-based tools created specifically for Wikipedia: WikiAnalyzer v2 and WikiDebate. Rather than focusing on the technology itself, the session centers on what can be done with it to develop critical thinking, analyze bias, and better understand how we construct inferences and reasoning.
The workshop is grounded in a key premise: technology is not neutral. Just as humans have cognitive and cultural biases, artificial intelligence systems can reproduce, amplify, or obscure them. Therefore, the goal is not to promote blind trust in AI, but to create space to question it, analyze it, and understand its limitations.
WikiAnalyzer v2 makes structural patterns in Wikipedia articles visible through indicators such as lexical diversity, reference density, and edit distribution. WikiDebate models arguments as structured networks of claims and evidence, allowing participants to visualize how inferences are constructed and to evaluate the coherence of reasoning beyond ideological positions.
During the workshop, participants will compare AI-generated responses with Wikipedia articles, identify patterns of bias, and reflect on how we reason, what we consider reliable, and why.
By the end of the session, participants will have a replicable framework to foster critical thinking, bias awareness, and digital literacy, using Wikipedia as a living knowledge system.
