Govdirectory - collaborating for impact
Speakers
Wikimedian since 2006, admin on Swedish Wikipedia, but my most active project is Wikidata, followed by Wikimedia Commons. I am co-host of the podcast Wikipediapodden and have been doing some Wikidata Live editing.
Member of Wikimedia Sverige (where I once was the CEO) and a bunch of other affiliates. Most notably, I am a co-founder of Wikimedians for Sustainable Development.
Abstract
This poster builds upon the poster from last year, which showed the impact of WikiProject Govdirectory. This time, it will focus more on how the collaboration itself led to impact. It will still include statistics of the number of Wikidata users involved and how many edits are associated, but also the sub-communities within the project. Again, the poster will also show how much Wikidata has improved thanks to the WikiProject and include some of the impact beyond the wikis.
Additional information
I agree
Govdirectory prides itself on being a crowdsourced and fact-checked directory of official governmental online accounts and services. Reliability is key, and vigilant work on lists to watch and queries is in place to help this. The vision of the project is "Our vision is a world where people are empowered to engage with their government to ensure responsive, inclusive, participatory, and representative decision-making at all levels." which relates to both Freedom and Equity (and Sustainable Development Goal 16).
Anyone interested in collaboration, WikiProjects Wikidata or CivicTech should be interested in this.
The replication of this project is high. Both in terms of using the same methods in other WikiProjects and also for when starting new areas within it. Queries for Wikidata Query Service and Quarry will be shared so that statistics for other projects can be made.
